Price-wise, the Golf is a more premium option than say, a Focus or an Astra, but it's also a far more multi-talented one, offering a securer and supremely refined drive in regular guise, and a
As such, the frugal hot hatch will hit 62 mph in 7.1 seconds, thanks in part to the 7-speed DSG gearbox, so it's 0.8s slower than a GTI and 0.4s slower than a GTE, at least according to the

I like the Marseille wheels and dont think 17's suit the GTE, GTI or GTD. The winter pack allows you to gain additional warmth in the car with a neglible impact on the range. I've read that the armrest is one thing that all standard GTE drivers wish they'd had. At the end of the day everything underneath the cars is identical.

Company car users will be particularly taken with the 242bhp GTE's blend of km. Opting for the 197bhp GTD model will mean slightly GTI is the best performer for the Golf hatchback
The GTI is quick and a good spec. The GTD has amazing torque and is a lot of fun. In general diesels do need to be driven and are better for high mileage users. If you don’t drive diesels enough the diesel filter DPF can get blocked up and can be expensive to fix. Driving hard clears out the filter and your Saturday drive may be ok. Produced in Germany and available world-wide, there are a lot of Golfs to choose from out there: the Golf, a Golf GTI, Golf GT, R-Line, GTD, GTE, E, R, GTE Advance, etc. The VW Golf is historically Volkswagen’s best-selling car. There have been over 35 million Golfs sold and the reason for its popularity will become more and more apparent as View attachment 102382. The difference in overall height is irrelevant, it’s the gap between the top of the tyre and the bottom of the wheel arch that is. The gap between the GTE is larger than the GTD which in turn is larger then the GTI. It makes a big visual difference, and the GTE looks like it’s on stilts in comparison.

It costs from around £33k and comes with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, 18-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, keyless entry and three-zone climate control. And where the Golf GTI has red highlights, the GTD’s are silver. The VW Golf GTD gets the same basic interior as the Mk8 Golf, which is a good thing.

The new GTD complete’s VW’s trio of hot GT-badged Golfs in the line-up, sitting alongside the GTI and plug-in hybrid GTE. This diesel hot hatch is the quickest and most advanced VW has ever

As far as the GTD, never sold here. But that had nothing to do with the emissions scandal. We didn't get prior generation GTD's either. To be honest, we don't get most of the options/packages available in Europe. For example no GTE, no R wagon (estate), no TCR or ClubSport, etc. In any case, I love my Mk7 TDI/wannabe GTD .
The second half of the test revealed a more representative estimated tire life of about 30,000 miles. Initial testing returned only so-so acceleration performance, with a zero-to-60-mph time of 6.
